英语中的连词是一种虚词，它可连接词与词或句与句，起连接的作用，但不承担句子成分。连词分从属连词和并列连词，从属连词引导从句，而并列连词连接两个互不依从的词、短语或分句。
and&orand和or是用得最多的并列连词，可以连接：
1.两个名词、形容词，以及两个并列的动词等。如：

2.两个并列的短语。如：
Themanenteredhishouseandtookoffhiscoat.
3.两个并列的分句。如：

注意：
or连接分句还可表示“否则”。如：
Driveslowly,oryoumayhaveanaccident.
butbut表示意思的转折。如：
Mycousinpassedtheexam,butIdidn’t.
Itissunnybutcoldtoday.
Wearenotenemies,butfriends.
soso表示结果，意为“因此，所以”。如：
Therainbegantofall,sowewenthome.
注意：so和because不能连用。如：
Hewasill,sohedidn’tgotoschool.相当于
Hedidn’tgotoschool,becausehewasill.
